60 YEARS OLD MAN BEATEN TO DEATH

A sixty year old man, Ibrahim Bulama was said to have been beaten to death by airforce officers over a woman of easy virtue suspected to be their girlfriend at a red light district in Simari/Galadima area of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Although, the Airforce Commander did not disclose the actual place where the incident happened, sources said it took place at Okona hotel.

Briefing Journalists Thursday in his office, the 105 Composite Command, Air Commondore Charles Ohwo narrated that, "Preliminary investigation revealed that, on Wednesday 7th December 2016, an airman, Lance Corporal Kamal Usman left his duty post at about 10pm, and on his way home, came across some gathering in Simari general area, and in an attempt to find out what was wrong, the crowd got scared and took to their heels.

" When he decided to check the surroundings to find out what scared the crowd, he entered one room and found a woman lying on a bed.

"Unfortunately, the deceased old man, Bulama mobilized some people and came back to the hotel and attacked him from the back with matchets, inflicting serious injuries on his head and snatched his rifle.

"On sensing danger, the lance corporal left and mobilized his fellow colleagues for assistance. Upon arrival at the scene, they descended on the old man, and beat him to death in the process of recovering their rifle.

"The airman is now recuperating at the airforce medical facility in Maiduguri, while his colleaques who were involved in the incident have been detained pending further investigation". Air Commondore Ohwo stated.

While appealing to the general public to be calm, Ohwo however said, the case will be thouroghly investigated, and whoever is found guilty will be punished accordingly, as the Nigerian Airforce is a credible organization which does not want its name to be dragged into mud.

When our Correspondent visited Okona Hotel to inquire from the Management, the Manager of the Hotel who simply gave his name as Mr. Emeka denied any incident involving the death of 60 year old man by airforce men.

He said, the incident happened around Simari area of Baga road within Maiduguri metropolis.

" My Hotel Akono is bubbling without any problem, the place is safe and secured". Emeka said
