Boko Haram kills 8 in Borno

The members of the Boko Haram sect have killed eight civilians in an ambush on a commercial vehicle in Borno State.
The fatalities reportedly occurred shortly after morning service on Sunday in the village of Kwamjilari, located about 30 kilometers east of the town of Chibok, in Borno State.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Monday that the civilians were killed when the insurgents who were looking for food attacked troops escorting commercial vehicles from Damboa to Maiduguri at Sanda.
He said that three soldiers were also injured in the ambush and were evacuated to Maiduguri.
Usman said that the military had sent a patrol team to the area to pursue the insurgents.
The Acting Army spokesman stressed that the troops would not relent until those behind the attack were arrested or killed.
He said that the military would not allow the ugly incident to disrupt the peace and security of commuters along the route and others reopened in the North-East.
Usman, also denied the reported terrorists attack on Chibok community.
He said that it was not true that the victims were killed outside a church in the area.
According to Usman, the people of the affected village were all moved to the Internally Displaced Persons' camp in Chibok.
