Aisha Buhari seeks end to economic woes

The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, on Saturday, called for concerted efforts to get the nation out of its current economic challenges.
Mrs. Buhari made the appeal while inaugurating a skill-acquisition centre for the training of 200 women in Katsina State as part of her 'Future Assured' project in conjunction with the National Directorate of Employment.
She said, 'Unfortunately, we are at a time when the economy of the country is experiencing great challenges. On this note, all hands must be on deck for us to salvage our nation.'
According to the President's wife, 1,200 women from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, would benefit from the programme, which she said would provide support for the women and their children.
She said, 'It is our sincere expectation that this effort will strengthen the hands of our women towards becoming major players in the economic development of our country. I have no doubt in my mind that when economically empowered, women in Nigeria would contribute significantly to the diversification of our national economy.
'My 'Future Assured' programme believes strongly in empowering women in income wielding activities which in the long run will bring about inclusive growth in the economy,' Mrs. Buhari said.
Governor Aminu Masari, in his remarks, said Nigerians should be grateful to have President Muhammadu Buhari in power at a time the country was experiencing economic downturn.
The governor added that the President was creating the political atmosphere to see the nation out of its challenges
