IPOB Insists_Only members were killed in onitsha
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said that only its members were killed by security operative in Onitsha, Anambra state May 30. The IPOB referring to media reports that members of the House of Representatives have started collating details of IPOB and Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) members killed in Onitsha. But the spokesperson for the IPOB Powerful Emma said that the report is false.
Referring to a report by Vanguard, Emma said that on May 30, 2016, during the commemoration of the fallen soldiers killed in 1967, not one member of MASSOB was killed as widely reported. Also a statement by the group said contrary to media reports, a security team led by the commanding officer of the 302 Artillery Regiment in Onitsha colonel Isa Abdullahi massacred some of IPOB members.
The statement said: “This is the height of irresponsible and unprofessional conduct in journalism and a crass display of the notorious journalism who were used by the government of the day, not a real facts.”
The IPOB also clarified that leaders of MASSOB have also come out to say that their members did not participate in the Biafra Heroes’ remembrance of May 30, 2016. “First, we have to remind Terhemba Daka that it is on record as reported on Thisday Newspaper on May 31, 2016 that Uchenna Madu of MASSOB confirmed that his members were not involved in the Remembrance Day activity and that none of them was killed.
